The problem

A 1990s ERP running a 2026 business

Justice Ophthalmics, a Tennessee distributor established in 1991, sells pharmaceutical-grade eye drops, surgical supplies, and diagnostic equipment to more than 1,600 customer accounts.

The company ran on Omnis ERP, a system built in the 1990s. Month-end close took 7 days. Orders arrived by phone and fax, were manually keyed into Omnis, and inventory lived in separate Excel files. Financials, inventory, and customer operations sat in three disconnected systems, and approval workflows meant chasing signatures.

Thirty-five years of history was locked inside a platform nobody could extend and few people still knew how to operate.

Legacy data records flowing into a modern system
The migration

From Omnis to FORGE, step by step

Phase 1

Discovery and mapping

Mapped 35 years of Omnis ERP data: 75,000+ orders, 1,600+ accounts, 103 vendors, and 788 products. Identified every custom workflow and GL account mapping before a single record moved.

Phase 2

Migration

422,500 records migrated to a modern PostgreSQL stack with zero foreign key errors and full referential integrity across accounting, inventory, and customer data.

Phase 3

Unification

General ledger, inventory, order entry, invoicing, and DSCSA compliance came online as one platform, replacing three disconnected systems and the Excel files between them.

Phase 4

Cutover

Live on a global CDN with DNS cutover and 1,600+ accounts activated. A zero-downtime transition off the legacy Omnis system.

The results

What changed

Month-end close: under 24 hours

What took the accounting team 7 days of reconciliation now completes in under a day, with every module posting to the same ledger.

Customers serve themselves

1,600+ accounts got a branded portal with order history and one-click reorder, replacing phone-and-fax order entry.

DSCSA lot tracking, native

Lot-level tracking and compliance documentation moved from manual effort into the receiving and shipping workflow itself.

"We had 35 years of data locked in an aging ERP, and our month-end close took a week. FORGE moved everything, accounting, inventory, orders, compliance, into one system. We closed last month in 18 hours. The customer portal alone saves my team 2 hours every day."

Justice Ophthalmics. Tennessee ophthalmic distributor, established 1991.

DSCSA was the compliance piece. The ERP was the business impact.

Compliance is one of the modules FORGE delivered here. The bigger transformation was unifying financial operations, inventory management, and customer operations that had previously lived in three disconnected systems.
